Default Signing up idea

I look as gal 12 fills up slowly and as the time for dg draws closer and I think to my self. it looks like gal 14 alliances will miss the start of the round then I think of something.

why not to help move sign ups along you do this. when you are close to the end of a round like 2 weeks before end date. you give people the option in there main screen

"stay with alliance" "Leave alliance"

if you click leave alliance then you must sign up the regular way next round. but if you click stay with alliance then. you don't

now the current Admiral of the alliance would then go to the admin part of the alliance page. and have the option:

Continue alliance:

if he clicks yes then he can enter in text boxes. the gal he would like to start in and the sectors he would like to expand to.

if he clicks no then the alliance is disbanded at the end of the round and the members have to sign up like normal.

now what this does is. when the signups start for next round. the game does this.

Eg:
alliance :dude!

the game creates the alliance with say DuDE as the leader.

it then takes all members that where in it last round and said they would stay. and randomly places them into the galaxy and sector the admiral chose.

once this is done. the game signups go on as regular.

this way if your a established alliance that wants to start in gal 14 sec 23-25 you can get into it before the round starts.

Now I am sure there are problems people see with this and I welcome all suggestions.

as a side note. if you say leave the alliance dude to join the alliance MeH next round. you would have to do the sign up the regular way.

staying with alliance and picking signup position sounds very well, but then sector teams and such would be an issue when trying to sign them into the correct place.

I dont think you should be allowed to sign up with an alliance at all.

Just randomise the universe once it is full and then see what sort of alliance structures spring up in the round.

Or if players do really wish to stay together, then allow them to stick together in small groups (say five) and then randomise the universe.

Alliances will be forced to work without the full defence offered to them at the start of the round, but will be able to merge there forces together as the round progresses.

It would also force the stronger players to work with the weaker players in sector alliances, because they will have to rely on their sector alliance for support.

Until of course they colonise/invade in the same sector as another team of their alliance, at which point they can merge.

Established alliances will probably hate this idea, but i think it would add a really interesting dynamic to the game.

Parisian <-- that would work except the problem is it takes so long to travel between galaxies that if you randomize the universe by time alliances are able to merg fully the round will be over. it will also make it not as fun for the alliance that stay together. i think that right from the start DG is a Alliance Bassed Game.

if alliances stay togeather it means slowly there would become 2 alliances only in every round and they would all be togeather the next round and so any one apossing them would be crushed it just wouldnt work

Course it would.

There is a limit of 100 members in an alliance, and this way is a good way of getting ones alliance a good head start and bypassing a lot of work. People don´t play this game just for the game´s sake, but for the opportunity to have fun with a lot of people, and when one has found people one like and trust, then one proably wishes to keep playing with them, not just have a random alliance made each Round.

If galactic traveltimes were reduced to about 30 hours then theres no reason that you'd have to play without your friends.

My idea however just evens up the difficulty in the first sector.

i dont think it would work, because say the alliance has 50(all the people from one particular sector) and the admiral chosses say a 5 sector spread. then gives all people the invite ability and they send out invites to everyone in the sector. of corse then since the alliance is already huge, no one would dare refuse the invite due to fear of being crushed. then the alliance has starting 250 members in the verry begining. say they dont recruit anyone else through the round. then next round the admiral puts the spread to say 20+ sectors, then hey you get the point. it would end up ALL the people would be split into 4 major alliances, on per galaxy. which would make the game exreamly boring even after everyone had galactic battle capabilities. alliances with this would just be too powerful to phase. the alliance loses a planet, and gains it back in just a few turns, makeing the game like chess, only with peices that regenerate...... very boring. now if they set a members limit on alliances to say 40 people then it would end the alliances with 71 people in them, and it would make this idea feesable.
